gaze units

gaze units is a piece that evolved from the research on the work face from 2018. An initial version was made for a concert at Orgelpark in that year, where a kinect device is used to map certain points on the face of the singer, who then controls the playing of the hyperorgan, a midi/osc controlled organ. The current version, gaze units, written in 2023, builds on this initial version, with a pre-composed vocal part, based on text categorising different forms of gaze and eye movement. The singer navigates through different sections of the piece, and with face detection, either deliberately or inadvertently generates and modulates different patterns in the hyperorgan.
